Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag!

I have another tag!!! I love tags. Not sure why, I just do. I haven’t done a tag in over a month!

(All the tags your seeing (and most of what you will see until like, August) are scheduled and were written like, the end of May).

So, I’m excited!

I’ll stop rambling and get to the tag now…

Thanks!

I want to thank Icebreaker694 so much for tagging me!
(She’s so amazing! For real. Go check out her blog!)

Let’s DO This!

A note, before I start: My reading challenge this year is 100 books. I have read 33, which puts me 20 books behind. I am currently reading novellas and such to try and catch up. Don’t judge me.

Here is my Goodreads challenge is you want to check it out.

Best Book You’ve Read Yet in 2016

I am REALLY bad at picking favorite, well, anything really, but I am extra terrible at picking favorite books.

I’ll name three: (And honestly even naming just three was difficult)

206491951200002017661416

Because You’ll Never Meet Me: This is one of my new favorite books of all time. I’ve mentioned it before, but if you haven’t picked it up, I highly recommend it. It’s part sci-fi, part contemporary. All amazing. Seriously. You can read my full review here.

Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe: This book has some of the best character progression I’ve ever seen (and believable parents in YA, which I love). As a goody-two-shoes Ace girl, I could not relate to the characters AT ALL but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment. I recommend it. (Plus, the audiobook is narrated by Lin-Manual Miranda if you need more convincing so…) You can read my full review here.

Made You Up: I was on a contemporary/mental illness book kick earlier in the year, and I think this one was my favorite of the bunch. I don’t know how accurate a portrayal it is, but it didn’t dissolve into stereotypes or ablism which I approved of, nor was it preachy, the main characters mental illness was a focus, but not the entirety of the novel. I enjoyed it immensely. You can read my full review here.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2016

173785276131164

Again, I couldn’t choose. The Raven Boys and The Infernal Devices make up two of my favorite series of all time though, and the final book in each were SO AMAZING. Seriously, read both these series. (I haven’t reviewed either…I should get on that).

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

26252859

I pre-ordered it and everything. It is sitting on my shelf. I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Hopefully during Book-Tube-A-Thon I will though!

I am seriously dying to read this though, I love Rich Riordan’s writing and I’m excited to visit Camp Half Blood again!

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

2905608324909346

These two are DEFINITELY at the top of the list.

I include both because Cursed Child will BE HERE BY THE END OF THE MONTH AND I’M DYING. (Okay. I am calm now.) And Gemina is more solidly in the second half of the year.

Biggest Disappointment

6609714

I haven’t had any TRUE disappointments so far this year. But this is definitely my least favorite read so far. I didn’t hate it. But I also thought I  would like it more than I did.

(I have a review that I wrote for this book scheduled for August 3rd)

Biggest Surprise

29435427

This was the biggest surprise just because I THOUGHT IT WAS A STANDALONE BUT ITS NOT AND NOW I’M VERY DISTRESSED.

(Sorry, I’m trigger happy with the capslock today I guess)

Favorite New Author

We’ve established I can’t pick favorites so…Top Three:

  • Francesca Zappia  (wrote Made You Up – see above)
  • Robin Benway (wrote Emmy & Oliver – see my review here)
  • Brittany Cavallero (wrote A Study In Charlotte – see my review here)

Newest Fictional Crush

-

Noah Czerny from The Raven Cycle for sure!

(Honestly I’m not naming multiple for this because of laziness and also I love Noah that much)

Seriously, Noah is my favorite.

(Art is by Cassandra Jean, it is not mine I just found it online)

Newest Favorite Character

ALL the characters. Icebreaker694 said that counts, so it does.

Just replace “Both” with “all” and it is the most accurate gif. Ever.

Book That Made You Cry

25663637

I cried through the last 50 or so pages. Like steady tears that dissolved into hysterics. While in the car with my grandpa, he was…concerned to say the least.

You can read my review here. (I reviewed so many of these books that I am honestly kind of proud).

Favorite Book to Film Adaptation

Only two books I’ve read so far this year have film adaptations: The 5th Wave and The Princess Bride. So, since The 5th Wave movie was kind-of terrible, I’m going to say The Princess Bride even if I haven’t seen the movie since I was about ten. (Though it is my dad’s favorite movie for a reason).

Favorite Post You Have Done This Year

I’m working on a couple discussion posts I’m excited for right now, but as for posts I’m already posted, I am quite proud of:

  • My Poems – Here I posted six poems I wrote that I am actually really proud of. If you check it out, I would love to know what you think!
  • 12 Reading Recommendations – Here I recommended 12 different books, its one of my most viewed posts actually.
  • Harry Potter: As Told By My 9-year-old Cousin – I think I’m most proud of this one just because it is hilarious. Its my most viewed post, so I guess other people think so too!

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year

hamilton-the-revolution-book-galleycat

Definitely this book! It has deckled edges, the pages are made to look old-timey and it is FILLED with full page photos. I love it. I haven’t had a chance to read through it, just flip through, but I’m excited about it.

What Book Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year

Well, I have a couple of posts about this already.

But, in the interest of this post, I’ll name something I want to read this year NOT on these lists.

13638125

I’ve been halfway through this book for MONTHS and I really need to finish it.

You can shame me now…

I Tag!

Awesome! Done!

That took forever because I was watching Psych:The Musical and kept getting distracted…

So, what do you think? Have you read any of these books? Let me know!

  1. I absolutely LOVED Clockwork Princess! Cassandra Clare is like my top favorite author! 🙂

I’ve seen the movie for The Princess Bride but haven’t read the book. This is the second post this week about the book, so I’m definitely going to have to read it!

Lastly, I’ve just now heard of V.E/Victoria Schwab, but I think next time I go to the book store, I’m going to buy some of her books! She’s been raved about so much I just have to see for myself 😉

    1. 1) Cassandra Clare is the best. (But I haven’t gotten to Lady Midnight and I’m dying. I lover her writing, but it is a beast of a book).
      2) You should definitely read The Princess Bride, especially if you liked the movie.
      3) Vicious is my first Victoria Schwab book and I’m loving it! (You should definitely read it)

      1. Lady Midnight is the best! I absolutely loved it! I think I might end up liking TDA more than I like TMI or TID! And that’s saying a lot! 🙂 It is REALLY long and I was a bit intimidated at first but it was SO worth it! I finished the last like 15 chapters in one sitting.

And I’ll make sure to get and read Vicious! I want to get The Archived because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it on other blogs and all over Youtube. I also really want to get This Savage Song. 🙂
