Poem: They Sell Salt For Open Wounds

A ring of salt around the room
To keep away the demons
That’ll bring about your doom

Salt along
The white picket fence
To preserve the dream
(Or so it seems)

Salt for the snails
Salt to the sea
The coffin gets another nail
But not for me

Salt to save
Salt to kill
Salt to hurt
Salt to heal

Watch out for the stars
Watch out for the moon
For here they sell salt
For your open wounds
