He’s considerate, he’s sweet, he takes care of her. But he’s a bear, and winning over her friends and family is difficult. Not to mention he has to hibernate all winter. Can true love conquer all?
ELEVATOR PITCH: The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams meets Lars and the Real Girl, by way of Bridget Jones’ Diary.
WRITTEN BY DISNEY VETERAN: Pamela Ribon boasts numerous credits at Disney, including: screenwriter (Moana), co-writer (Wreck- It Ralph 2), writer and narration consultant (DisneyNature’s Bears), and has been a member of the Disney Animation StoryTrust since 2013.
UNDER-PUBLISHED GENRE: There’s a dearth of romance comics, especially romantic comedies. This graphic novel caters to fans of the beloved genre.
FUNNY YET HEARTFELT: While goofy and fun, there’s a lot a pathos. Get ready to break out those tissues.
I received an e-arc from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
2.5/3 Stars
This wasn’t bad, I liked the art style a lot. The story just wasn’t for me. It was a little weirder than I expected, more serious and less funny than I expected, which made it go in weird directions I wasn’t expecting. I ended up skimming through most of it because I just wasn’t into it. Maybe someone else whose sense of humor is more in line with the author’s will enjoy this more.
