Movie Review: Solo

Young Han Solo finds adventure when he joins a gang of galactic smugglers, including a 196-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca. Indebted to the gangster Dryden Vos, the crew devises a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal a batch of valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the suave owner of the perfect vessel for the dangerous mission — the Millennium Falcon.

Solo is the most recent Star Wars standalone film, similar to Rogue One.

The actors, especially those playing Han and Lando were amazing, and had some great chemistry. There were some great callbacks to the original trilogy (the dice, “I have a bad feeling about this”) and a lot of the dialogue was super funny (feminist droid for the win).

The plot was pretty filmsy though. I could see the ending coming about an hour in advance, and even as a casual Star Wars fan, I could notice quite a few plot holes.

Its a fun, entertaining Star Wars movie, and I’m not one of those people that are saying it “ruined Star Wars”, I love their new push for diversity, and changing the original formulaic plots, I just think they could have done a bit better.
