My 2023 Reading Goals

Its a New Year so its time for some new goals!

I have been working on this blog since I was 15-years old. Now at the age of 23, I am on year eight of book blogging. My blogging has waxed and waned over the years, but I have some resolutions to be a more intentional blogger and reader.

Reading Goals

Goodreads Challenge

The Goodreads Reading Challenge is a staple of avid readers. My goal is set to 300 – though this is mostly because I am a person who believes if something is on Goodreads it is fair game to mark-as-read, and this included comics, webtoons and fanfiction.

Read More Novels

I have been in a terrible reading slump for the past few years – I have read very few novels that were not required reading for school since I started undergrad and especially since Covid-19 started. Nothing seems to keep my attention, and I want to work on this.

Work On My Physical TBR

I haven’t counted how many books I own. However, I know that I own many shelves worth of physical books, and have only read a fraction of them. I want to work on this (and maybe cull some books).

Read More New Adult / Adult

This goal plays into my goal of reading more novels in general. I have been a largely YA reader for over a decade, and with my struggle to finish books lately I want to interrogate if, maybe, my reading taste is just changing.

Blogging Goals

Post A Review For Each Book A Read Or DNF

This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Catch Up On My Netgalley Reviews

Like most reviewers, I am constantly behind on my Netgalley reviews, so I want to try and catch up.

Post A Blog Post Once A Week

I tend to pre-schedule my posts months in advance, so I have been doing this for a while, but its something I want to continue.

Be More Engaged As A Blogger

I want to participate more in tags and trending bookish discussions. I want to comment more on other bloggers posts, be more active in social media spaces.

Writing Goals

Finish A Novel Draft

I am an aspiring writer. I have been writing novels since high school, though I have never finished a full draft. I currently have several partially-drafted novels (many from failed NaNoWriMo attempts) and want to finish at least one full novel draft this year.

Submit My Poetry For Publication

I have been writing poetry since high school, and have posted some on this blog. I have also never submitted it to publication and its something I want to try to do.

  1. It looks like we have many similar goals for this year, so I’m excited to see your progress and wish you all the best in your goals for the year! I am curious though– are there actually fanfictions listed on Goodreads?

  2. I’ve never thought to associate reading slumps with changing tastes but that’s so brilliant! I’m going to keep this in mind the next time I’m struggling to latch on to a novel or find something I want to read. Maybe I’ll just try something new/off the beaten path for me!

I wish you luck on all of your goals – and OH MY GOSH for finishing the novel draft and seeking poetry publication! That is so exciting! I know you can do it! I’ll be looking forward to a future day when I can buy some of your poetry or even a novel that you wrote :). More important though, have fun with all of it.
