2018 Reading Challenges

I’m not great at sticking with challenges, but I’m joining a couple for 2018 – to combat the massive reading slump which graced most of 2017.

I have four challenges, plus a few personal goals.

First – The Goodreads Reading Challenge.

My goal for 2018 is 150 (My goal for 2017 was originally 100 but I failed only hitting 61…).

Friend me on Goodreads: GR Profile Link

Some Personal Goals:

  • Get every approved book on Netgalley reviewed.
  • Be better at reviewing my Blogging For Books books in a timely manner.
  • Keep up with actually writing my reviews.

Challenge 1 –

2018 Fanfiction Reading Challenge hosted by Cat On The Bookshelf.

I read…probably too much fanfic instead of reading. But I thought this looked fun. I’m not going to commit to a goal, as its measured in chapters rather than pics, and that sounds like too much effort to keep track of and add.

Challenge 2 –

2018 Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight!

I like writing blog discussions, but I almost never do, mostly due to laziness. Hopefully this with motivate me.

I’m going for the level: 11-20 – Creative Conversationalist

I want to write at least 12 discussions this year.

Challenge 3 –

2018 YA Reading Challenge hosted by Whole Latte Ideas

Basically, the goal is to read as much YA as possible, which works for me.

Challenge 4 –

#BEATTHEBACKLIST 2018 hosted by Novel Knight

The goal is to read as many books published prior to 2018 as possible. I have a TON!

At least 100 backlist books, lets do this!

I wrote this post right at the end of 2017 with some challenges that looked interesting.

Well, this is a week or so later, and I found some more challenges?

Look, I’m awful at sticking with challenges, but maybe they’ll push me to actually get more reading done, so whats the harm in trying?

So, I’m adding some more.

Mount TBR 2018 hosted by My Reader’s Block

There’s a list of rules, but the general concept is to read physical books off your TBR (ebooks and audiobooks may count if it is a main source of TBR stress) to tackle the TBR mountain. They must be books owned prior to 2018.

For me, this mostly coincides wth the Beat The Backlist challenge, so the level I’m going for is:

Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s

Modern Mrs Darcy 2018 Reading Challenge

The goal of this one is to read 12 amazing books, quality over quantity, which is different than any other reading challenge I’ve seen, and I thought it was interesting.

I already have a TBR for this one – mostly: (in order of the challenges)

  • The Great Gatsby
  • Caraval (person is by best friend)
  • Ruby Red Trilogy – I own the ebooks, and originally they were written  in German.
  • This one CAN’T be TBRed yet…
  • The Sun and Her Flowers
  • Magic Misfits
  • Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy
  • Renegades
  • …to be chosen later
  • Anyone have any recommendations?
  • Teen Angst? Nah…..
  • I Believe in a Thing Called Love

2018 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge

There are three levels, and I’m aiming for the highest:

I own a ton of series, most of them the complete series, and I haven’t finished what feels like most of them.

So, Maybe this will motivate me?

Here are some I want to finish:

  • The Mortal Instruments (all I have is City of Heavenly Fire left)
  • To All The Boys I Loved Before (I haven’t read books 2 or 3)
  • Lunar Chronicles (I’ve read Cinder and Scarlet)
  • The Fifth Wave (I’ve read the first book only but I own all three)
  • And a couple more I can’t think of right now…

One last challenge (do I count as a crazy person yet?)

2018 Netgalley & Edelweiss Reading Challenge

I have a MASSIVE backlog of Netgalley books, many I have lost interest in and will boost likely DNF but still, massive TBR.

I’m trying for the highest level of this one too:

Diamond – 100 Books

For me, I can only count a DNF book if I write a review (and in this case, delate it from my kindle)

So maybe this will hep me get my life (at least in terms of Netgalley) in order.

Are you participating in any of these? Different ones?

Do you think I’m insane?

Let me know!

RiverMoose’s ARC TBR Takedown Read-A-Thon – Sign-Ups

Original Read-A-Thon

RiverMoose’s ARC TBR Takedown Read-A-Thon

Sign-Ups –
May 14th – end of Read-A-Thon (July 31st) 2017

June 1st – July 31st

Read as many arc/review copies off your TBR as you can.

I’m starting this Read-A-Thon because I have an avalanche of arcs to get through (I have an over requesting on Netgalley problem) and I think it’ll motivate me.

I also really love participating in Read-A-Thons, its fun to motivate each other, but most Read-A-Thons are inconveniently timed for me – so I thought by making my own, it would fit my problem and my timing. I figured i’m not the only when, so I’m making a real Read-A-Thon.

What do you think?

-Any genre.

-Must be reviewed within the Read-A-Thon time frame (or, confirm review written and scheduled for release day).
